The Ojai Valley

For over 100 years, visitors have come here to enjoy the natural beauty, the mild climate and the serence ambiance of this valley. But no one appreciates these elements more than the residents of this amazing place.

While sojourners can experience only slices of Ojai's charm, those of us who call Ojai home can enjoy year-round benefits. We experience the glorious scent of orange blossoms in the spring, walking through fields of tall mustard after a good rain, warm evenings taking in the sunset splashed Topa Topas and the many walking/cycling/riding paths throughout the valley. We can't take for granted the majestic oak trees we fight to save and the open spaces preserved as natural habitat and for our hiking pleasure. And only a resident is likely to catch the phenomenon of snowcapped mountains framing a fruit-laden orange tree.

While we're still small, by many city standards, Ojai is large when it comes to community events--some of which attract people from around the world. There's the famous Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament taking place in April; the Ojai Renaissance Festival and the Ojai Storytelling Festival in May; the world-renowned Ojai Music Festival as well as the charming Lavender Festival in June; the American pie Independence Day Parade in July; the Playwrights Conference in August and Ojai Day and the Studio Artist Tours in October. We also host a wonderful Farmers Market every Sunday in downtown Ojai.

Ojai backs up to the enormous Los Pardres National Forest. It is only minutes away from Casitas Lake and Recreational area. And you can pursue many sports right here in the valley--including golf at the Ojai Valley Inn, considered a premier championship course and Soule Park, recently named the 20th best course in the U.S.

While residents do leave the valley on occasion, most of us sigh a sigh of relief when we enter those imaginary gates welcoming us back home to the enchanting Ojai Valley.

If you want to live where your neighbors are friendly and your options are vast, consider making Ojai your home.
